How to find us: Newcastle

From the Monument walk in approx. 100m east passing the bottom of Northumberland street (try and avoid looking in shop windows!). When you see the 2nd largest library in Europe ( a large glass building on your left) please come in. Either ask the Reception Welcomer for the Bewick Halls Level 2 or look for a steward who will direct you to the Bewick Halls. Look forward to meeting you there.

By Bus

Bus routes from around the region run into the city centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne and is well served by bus stations at Haymarket (Marks & Spencer), Blackett Street and Newgate Street. Ask on any city centre bus for "The City Library" and the driver should drop you nearby.

To plan your journey, try the Traveline Journey Planner website by clicking here – where you can plan a journey from anywhere in the North East or Cumbria by simply filling Newcastle City Library in the ‘Town’ field and City Library in the ‘Stop or Street’ field.

Please note, the best way to travel from Newcastle International Airport or Newcastle Central Station by public transport to Eldon Square is on the Metro train system, see below.

By Metro

One of the best ways to travel into Newcastle City Centre is on the Tyne and Wear Metro service which runs to the city centre from Newcastle Airport, Newcastle Central Station, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland. Metro is convenient, fast, frequent and easy-to-use.

The City Library is accessible via the Monument station followed by a short walk approx. 100m east passing the bottom of Northumberland street.

By Car / Car Parking

The City Library is right in the city centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne and benefits from excellent road links and thousands of adjacent car parking spaces. It currently only costs £2 to park all day on Sundays - Please don't forget a to bring change - a newsagent / cafe is just around the corner if you forget.

The best car park is the Oxford Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8AN

Visit site: Oxford St multi-storey carpark

To travel by road from the North and Scotland follow A1 south until the roundabout junction signposted A696 Airport and A167(M) Ponteland Road. Take the first exit, A167(M) Ponteland Road toward Newcastle. Follow signs for City Centre car parking. From Airport follow A696 to A167(M) Ponteland Road.

From South follow the A1 northbound until the sliproad junction with the A184 signposted Newcastle. Follow A184, remaining in the right hand lane for the sliproad junction onto the A6082 Redheugh Bridge. After the bridge, continue on the A6082 St. James’ Boulevard following signs for City Centre car parking.

From West follow A69 from Carlisle and Hexham to the roundabout junction with the A1. Take A1 northbound for approximately two miles until the roundabout junction with A696 Airport and A167(M) Ponteland Road. Follow A167(M) Ponteland Road toward Newcastle. Follow signs for City Centre, and car parking.

From East, North Tyneside and International Ferry Terminal. Follow A19 to link up with A1058 Coast Road and travel west toward Newcastle City Centre. At A1058 Jesmond Road, stay in right-hand lane and follow A167(M) North passing one junction. Follow signs for City Centre, and car parking.

By Train

Newcastle Central Station is around 10 minutes walk from Newcastle City Library and is one stop away on the Tyne and Wear Metro system (see above). It is well-served from most areas of the country by train making this an excellent transport link to visit Destiny Church Newcastle and Newcastle Upon Tyne.

By Air

Newcastle International Airport is approximately 10 miles from the City Library where Destiny Church Newcastle meets and is easily accessible by road or public transport (see above). The airport is served from many British, European and Global destinations by airlines such as British Airways, Emirates, EasyJet, Jet2, Flybe, Ryanair, KLM, Aer Lingus, Air France and many more.

Shopmobility

A Shopmobility scheme runs throughout Newcastle City Centre and details can be found here. Most car parks adjacent to Eldon Square Shopping Centre feature disabled parking bays and wheelchair hire is available from Eldon Square by calling 0191 261 1891 and selecting the options for Customer Service.

How to find us: Gateshead

We meet on Sundays 6.30pm in the Berwick Suite, Swallow Hotel, High West Street Gateshead, Tyne and Wear NE8 1PE

Best transport methods:

Car

Free onstreet parking is readily available. x2 Disabled bays by the door of the hotel plus easy drop off.

Metro

Use the Gateshead Interchange.

Bus

Use Gateshead Interchange and short 10 minute walk.

Cycle
